Pop rock
2000’s pop rock opened Shoreline Amphitheater with a bang as Avril Lavigne together with her ultra special guest All Time Low and the Royal & the Serpent conquered the big stage on Tuesday, the 28th of May, 2024. The “Sk8er Boi” singer was delivering her monumental career-defining Greatest Hits Tour which served some of the biggest hits of her 26-year career. The shows garnered incredible reviews from music critics across the world. BroadwayWorld wrote, that the show was “a powerful testament to Lavigne’s enduring connection with her fans.” Meanwhile, her show at the Shoreline also immensely wowed audiences, Mercury News mentioned in their review that “a voice of a generation doesn’t need to be so complicated. It can be straightforward, direct and, alternately, fun and poignant.” Besides Avril Lavgine, the year also brought in Yellowcard and ARIZONA in support for Third Eye Blind’s Summer Gods Tour.
Alternative
The year was also packed with nostalgic feels as the Shoreline Amphitheater saw the return of groundbreaking 90s alternative rock bands. Iconic bands like Third Eye Blind, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Collective Soul certainly brought out the Gen X and older millennials but with the resurgence of 90s rock there were a ton of newfound fans and younger listeners. The shows they delivered certainly brought down the house and it was a retrospective trip unlike any other. On Saturday, June 15th, 2024, Third Eye Blind’s Summer Gods Tour was a great moment for alternative fanatics. Top Shelf Music Mag’s writer definitely had a blast, “I, myself, have been to many Third Eye Blind shows and it was evident that this one was really special; it was definitely a favorite for me!”
“Their(Hootie and the Blowfish) performance at Shoreline Amphitheater was a reminder of why they became one of the best-selling bands of the ’90s, and a clear indication that their musical journey is far from over.”
Meanwhile Hootie and the Blowfish turned up Shoreline Amphitheater like never before for their Summer Camp with Trucks Tour. The “Only Wanna Be With You” stars brought in sensational post grunge and alternative dynamo Collective Soul, who also conquered the 90s era with number 1 singles, such as “Shine” “December,” “The World I Know,” and tons more. That evening on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, Hootie and the Blowfish delivered a 22-song marathon. SFBayAreaconcerts.com wrote, “For fans of ’90s rock or anyone seeking a night of quality musicianship and sing along anthems, catching Hootie and the Blowfish on this tour is a must. The band proves that they’re not just a nostalgia act, but a group of seasoned performers who still have plenty to offer in a live setting.” The writer goes on to add, “Their performance at Shoreline Amphitheater was a reminder of why they became one of the best-selling bands of the ’90s, and a clear indication that their musical journey is far from over. Speaking of nostalgia, female alternative icon Alanis Morisette also came to the Shoreline on Wednesday 7th August 2024. The Triple Moon Tour was a sight to behold but also totally festive on the ears as Morisette brought along icons such as Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Morgan Wade.
Pop
Although most shows that came by Shoreline were rock and country artists, the venue still delivered modern pop at its finest. Former One Direction member Nial Horran came by with The Show: Live on Tour. A concert attendee wrote in her blog, “I went to see Niall Horan in concert and I had the absolute best evening.” She continued to share her magnificent experience on Friday, 26th July 2024 in her blog. Her time at the Shoreline was also outstanding, “Right from the start the vibe at the amphitheater was lovely.” Besides a former boyband-er with an out of this world solo career, the O.G. boy band also came into play. New Kids on the Block came by the Shoreline on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. It was another retrospective trip for San Francisco music lovers as the boy band belted out classics like “Step By Step,” “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever),” “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” and tons more.
Country, bluegrass, and folk
With country music, you can never go wrong especially when it comes ot music legends. The Shoreline Amphitheater welcomed a number of big name country phenoms this year, including monumental duo Brooks and Dunn, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and John Mellencamp. Brooks and Dunn headlined their own fantastic gig on Friday, June 7th, 2024. They brought in some thrilling special guests including Grammy nominated singer-songwriter David Lee Murphy and Ernest.
By summer, the Shoreline waved hello to the monster tour, the Outlaw Music Festival. Of course, you can’t have a festival that champions outlaws without the legend himself, Willie Nelson. And the best part of that is he brought his equally iconic and influential friends Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp. Bob Dylan, named one of the greatest songwriters of all time, was the highlight of the evening but heartland rock icon John Mellencamp was just as astounding. Ultimately it was a show that had three Rock and Roll Hall of Famers sharing the stage.
Younger phenoms also came rocking out at the Shoreline and it’s safe to say that country music is alive and well at Mountainview. Top country artists like Tyler Childers also came in to deliver his platinum selling hits. Meanwhile, Shaky Graves joined Tyler for the Mule Pull Tour on Wednesday, 14th of August, 2024.
Reggae Rock
Another highly awaited moment at the Shoreline was the annual visit of greatly in demand reggae rock acts. Every year a slew of outstanding ska and reggae powerhouses frequent this venue. This year definitely did not disappoint as the summer brought in monumental bands like Rebelution, Slightly Stoopid, and Dirtyheads. To say these shows were eventful is an understatement. Whenever these bands drop by, entire audiences comprising thousands of rock loving adults jump up and down in unison. Its the only way to enjoy ska after all. But all throughout the show, it was pure great vibes thanks to these bands’ remarkable uplifting music.
“We got to the venue a couple of hours early and everyone was helpful, from parking lot security to event staff.”

In fact, attendees happily leave glowing reviews because a trip to this venue is just that fantastic. “Not knowing much about Shoreline, we became concerned that there wouldn’t be food or concessions at the show. Meanwhile NorthernK came all the way from Phoenix just to experience a show at the Shoreline, “(I) enjoyed coming here, my first time in a location which has hosted some very historic shows. Not here to review the show itself but it was very good, and the crowd up front sections was good as well.”
